Qatar and Kyrgyzstan Have Executed Agreements to Establish a Joint Business Council
RIYADH: Qatar Chamber and Kyrgyzstan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed two agreements to strengthen bilateral commercial relations and establish a joint Qatari-Kyrgyz business council.
The signing ceremony took place at the end of a meeting between the chamber and a visiting Kyrgyz trade delegation at the Qatar Chamber headquarters.
Talks centred on ways to increase trade and economic relations, including areas for greater commercial cooperation and increasing the role of the private sector in joint ventures, according to the Qatar News Agency.
The deals come as Qatar seeks to strengthen economic ties with Central Asia and broaden opportunities for its private sector.
Kyrgyzstan, for its part, seeks to attract foreign investment and expand export markets, and infrastructure, energy and agriculture are seen as possible areas for deeper cooperation.
Qatar Chamber First Vice-Chairman Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al-Kuwari and Kyrgyz Chamber Vice-Chairman Avazbek Kerimbaev signed the agreement.
The new council “will be a structured platform to enhance cooperation and facilitate the exchange of trade, economic and services data” between the two countries, Al-Kuwari said, stressing the council’s strategic relevance, QNA reported. Deputy Chairman of the Kyrgyz parliament Kerimbaev commended the increasing connections between the two states. Kyrgyz business sector is interested in boosting commerce with Qatar, especially in building and infrastructure, he said.
There are promising commercial opportunities between the two markets,” he added, suggesting to have virtual business-to-business meetings between Qatari and Kyrgyz entrepreneurs to explore possible alliances.
