Saudi FM Meets UK, Qatar, and Kuwait Officials to Discuss Regional Stability
RIYADH — Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan discussed regional developments and efforts to strengthen security and stability in separate calls on Monday with his counterparts from the UK, Qatar, and Kuwait, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
During his call with new British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband, the prince congratulated him on assuming office and expressed hopes for closer cooperation. Miliband reaffirmed Britain’s commitment to Saudi-British ties and reiterated the UK’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia, condemning recent attacks against the Kingdom and other countries by Iranian-backed militias in Yemen.
The Saudi minister also received separate calls from Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani and Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. Discussions encompassed the latest regional developments and efforts to strengthen coordination for regional security and stability. The officials also condemned attacks by Iran and Iran-backed militias in Yemen and Iraq targeting Saudi Arabia and other countries in the region.
