Saudi Tourism Activity Expands, Tourist Lodges at 52%

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Commerce said the number of active commercial registrations for tourism-related activities rose 32 percent to 52 percent in 2026.

The expansion indicates increasing commercial and investment prospects in the industry, fuelled by the development of tourism destinations as the Kingdom advances in its Vision 2030 aspirations.

Commercial registrations of tourist lodges increased 52 percent year on year to 18,115 at the end of the third quarter of 2026 from 11,900 in the same period last year, the ministry said.

Commercial registrations of tourist lodging establishments rose 37 percent to 18,956 from 13,819 in the same period of 2025.

Commercial registrations in the tour guide sector grew 33 percent to 7,735, up from 5,784 at the end of the third quarter of 2025.

Commercial registrations of tour organization activities rose by 32 percent to 11,949, from 9,057 in the same time in 2025.

“The growth of economic activities linked to tourism is a clear indication of growing opportunities for the business sector, which in turn feeds into greater commercial activity and the development of SMEs,” the ministry stated.

It also reflects the exploitation of Saudi Arabia’s tourism assets, which include its strategic location, natural and geographical diversity, and extensive cultural and civilizational legacy, combining to make it one of the world’s most promising tourism destinations.
