US and Israel Reportedly Consider Strikes on Iran’s Energy Assets Amid Escalating Conflict
WASHINGTON — The United States and Israel are planning a bombing campaign against energy infrastructure targets in Iran, with strikes possible throughout the weekend, CBS News reported on Friday, citing sources.
President Donald Trump has yet to give the final go-ahead for the strikes, according to sources cited by CBS. The campaign would be one of the harshest yet against Iranian energy infrastructure during the US-Israeli war against Iran, the report added.
There was discussion about concluding the strikes before financial markets open on Monday, CBS reported.
The report comes as tensions between Washington and Tehran remain elevated, with the Strait of Hormuz effectively closed to shipping traffic and oil prices hovering near $90 a barrel. Neither the White House nor the Pentagon has commented on the report.
