Saudi Crown Prince Engages Regional Leaders in Talks on Peace and Stability
RIYADH — Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman held phone calls with the leaders of Bahrain and Syria on Thursday, discussing regional developments and efforts to enhance security and stability, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The crown prince received a call from Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa. The two leaders reviewed the latest developments in the region and discussed a number of topics of common interest, according to SPA.
Separately, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman spoke with Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa. The Syrian leader renewed his country’s condemnation of the recent attempt to target Saudi petroleum facilities by Iran-affiliated militias in Iraq. Al-Sharaa affirmed Syria’s steadfast support for the security of the Kingdom and its sovereignty.
The calls come as regional tensions remain high, with the United States and Iran engaged in ongoing military confrontations and the Strait of Hormuz effectively shut down to shipping traffic. Saudi Arabia has been actively engaged in diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and coordinate with regional partners on security matters.
