Why Iran Is Targeting Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan for a Second Day
RIYADH — Iran launched retaliatory strikes on Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan for a second consecutive day on Thursday, as the United States carried out fresh assaults on multiple Iranian cities. The escalation follows President Donald Trump’s warning that Tehran would “pay the price” for stalled peace negotiations.
Kuwait said its air defense systems were intercepting hostile aerial targets and temporarily shut its airspace, diverting flights. Bahrain activated air raid sirens and urged residents to shelter in safe places. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed it fired 12 ballistic missiles at a US command center at Jordan’s Al‑Azraq Air Base, destroying facilities and a large number of fighter aircraft.
The back‑and‑forth strikes mark the third time this week that a fragile two‑month ceasefire has been tested. The conflict began on February 28 with US‑Israeli attacks on Iran. Mediators continue to seek a deal, but Trump’s repeated claims that an agreement is imminent have not yet materialized.
