Iraq State News Agency Confirms Baiji Oil Refinery Fire Is Out
CAIRO — Iraqi civil defense teams extinguished a fire at a refinery within the Baiji oil complex, located 180 kilometers north of Baghdad, the Iraqi state news agency reported on Monday.
The fire broke out inside a hydrocracking unit at the Salah al-Din refinery. No injuries were reported.
The Baiji complex is one of Iraq’s largest oil refining facilities and has been a target of attacks and sabotage in the past. Operations at the refinery have resumed following the extinguishing of the fire.
