Investments at Gateway Gulf valued at $3.89 Billion awarded Golden Licenses by Bahrain

Bahrain approved four investment projects worth $3.89 billion during the Gateway Gulf 2026 event. The deals were in real estate, aviation and technology. Investment in projects is reported to have come from Digital City Bahrain, Melia, Infracorp, AirAsia’s parent company Capital A, DHL and the crown prince’s office.

In 2023 the country introduced a Golden License program, offering advantages including expedited permits and access to government services for investors undertaking large-scale projects. These approvals were under this program.

The announcements were made at Gateway Gulf, a two-day event conducted in Manama by the Bahrain Economic Development Board. The event is expected to generate more than $20 billion in 110 investment announcements, the Minister of Finance and National Economy Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa said ahead of the event’s start.

Investors may make promises with confidence because we have been working for decades on a clear, contemporary and rapid structure,” he said.  Capital A’s project would bring operations and services from AirAsia, Teleport and Asia Digital Engineering to Bahrain. DHL will establish a regional aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul center.

Part two is about improving the country’s aviation infrastructure, such as passenger flights, air cargo, and aircraft maintenance capabilities.

Melia and Infracorp will create beachfront project on Amwaj Islands with branded houses and a five star hotel. Digital City Bahrain will incorporate residential, commercial, academic and innovative purposes.
