Saudi Arabia, UAE Urge Collective Gulf Action Amid Regional Escalation

Saudi Arabia and the UAE are pressing for tighter coordination and a unified Gulf stance as tensions rise across the region, following a phone call between their top diplomats on Sunday.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan discussed fast-moving regional developments and ways to head off further escalation, according to the Saudi Press Agency. Both ministers emphasized the importance of aligning their positions and deepening consultations between Riyadh and Abu Dhabi to support joint Gulf action and protect the security and resources of Gulf Cooperation Council states.

The call followed a fresh wave of attacks on Gulf states, including recent Houthi strikes on civilian and economic sites in southern Saudi Arabia.

Speaking earlier Sunday at the BRICS summit in New Delhi, Prince Faisal described Saudi Arabia’s national security, territorial integrity and resources as non-negotiable, warning that Gulf states would not tolerate attacks on their territory, infrastructure or core interests. He called for a shift away from confrontation toward de-escalation and diplomacy, arguing that lasting stability in the region depends on respect for sovereignty, non-interference and good-neighborly relations.
