Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan have issued strong condemnations after Israeli settlers stormed the courtyards of Al‑Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem and raised the Israeli flag on the site.

Qatar’s foreign ministry stressed that the mosque is an “exclusively Muslim place of worship” and that any unilateral measures to alter the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem are “null and void under international law.” The statement warned that such provocations could fuel further violence.

The UAE called the settler actions “a provocation and an unacceptable act of extremism,” urging Israeli authorities to halt escalatory moves and respect the sanctity of holy sites.

Jordan, which administers the mosque through its Ministry of Awqaf, described the incursion as “provocative and reckless,” reaffirming its absolute rejection of continued violations.

The incident occurred on Sunday when settlers entered the compound from Al‑Maghrabah Gate under police protection, chanting the Israeli national anthem. Al‑Aqsa Mosque, Islam’s third‑holiest site, has been a flashpoint since East Jerusalem was occupied in 1967.
