Prince William and Kate Lead Star-Studded Guest List at Digger Premiere
The Prince and Princess of Wales attended the London premiere of Tom Cruise’s new film, Digger, on Tuesday, reconnecting with familiar faces including David Beckham and his sons Romeo and Cruz.
William and Kate, both 44, arrived at the ODEON Luxe on September 22 for the black-tie event, with Kate wearing a plum Jenny Packham gown and William in a black velvet jacket and bow tie. David Beckham, 51, joined by sons Romeo, 24, and Cruz, 21, also turned out in black-tie attire and posed for photos with the royal couple. According to HELLO!, William was later seen chatting and laughing with David, while Kate spent time talking with Romeo and Cruz.
The Beckhams have a long history with the royal couple, having attended William and Kate’s 2011 wedding at Westminster Abbey, with David and William crossing paths at various events in the years since. Romeo has met the family before as well, having appeared alongside his father in photographs with William, Kate and a young Prince George during England’s Euro 2020 match against Germany at Wembley.
Cruise’s connection to the couple also stretches back years. He attended the UK premiere of Top Gun: Maverick in May 2022, where he was photographed with William, Kate and cast members including Miles Teller and Jennifer Connelly. The actor and William have bonded over a shared interest in aviation, with both men being pilots, and Cruise reportedly arranged a private screening of Top Gun: Maverick for the couple ahead of its official UK premiere.
Cruise’s ties to the British royal family go back even further. In 1992, he and then-wife Nicole Kidman met Diana, Princess of Wales, at the London premiere of Far and Away, and the couple later attended her funeral in 1997. In 2017, Cruise met Prince Philip at a Buckingham Palace dinner marking the 75th anniversary of The Outward Bound Trust.
The Digger premiere brought Cruise together with William and Kate once again, alongside several familiar faces from the couple’s wider social circle.
