US-Iran Military Confrontation: Tehran Hits US Allies After Sixth Night of Strikes
DUBAI — The United States carried out a sixth consecutive night of airstrikes against Iran early Friday, targeting bridges and infrastructure, while Iran launched missile and drone attacks against US-allied nations across the region.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said they struck two US radar sites in Oman, destroying maritime and air surveillance installations. Qatar reported missile strikes, with falling debris wounding a child, while Bahrain and Kuwait were also targeted in retaliation for US attacks on Iranian bridges.
The latest escalation follows the collapse of a temporary ceasefire reached last month. Iran has effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz to shipping since the war began in February, giving Tehran significant leverage. US President Donald Trump said the war was going well and promised results soon.
Iranian state media reported US strikes killed at least seven people in Hormozgan province, with additional strikes near Tehran and Semnan province. The United States has also reimposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports, with Marines boarding a ship in the Gulf of Oman on Thursday and redirecting three vessels attempting to run the blockade.
Iranian military spokesperson Ebrahim Zolfaghari warned that Tehran could launch widespread attacks on regional infrastructure if the US strikes bridges and power plants, calling the Strait of Hormuz an “invincible red line.” Shipping through the strait has dropped sharply, with many vessels staying put or turning off location devices.
