RIYADH — Saudi Arabia welcomed US President Donald Trump’s announcement that Lebanon and Israel have agreed to a 10‑day ceasefire, set to begin at 9pm GMT on Thursday. The truce signals a pause in Israel’s parallel conflict with Hezbollah, which has raged alongside the war with Iran.

The Kingdom expressed appreciation for the “significant and positive role” played by Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam’s government, and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri. In a foreign ministry statement, Saudi Arabia reiterated its support for the Lebanese state in extending its sovereignty and confining weapons to state institutions. The ministry also praised Lebanese efforts to preserve the country’s resources, safety, and territorial integrity.
