Israel Under Fire from Iran Missiles: Civilian Impact and Safety Concerns

JERUSALEM — Israel’s military reported a new salvo of missiles from Iran on Friday, with air defenses working to intercept them. No immediate casualties were reported, but emergency services noted damage to houses and cars from an unintercepted cluster missile. Israeli military radio said a train station in Tel Aviv was hit by shrapnel.

The attack came as US President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that the US military “hasn’t even started destroying what’s left in Iran. Bridges next, then Electric Power Plants!” Hours earlier, he had claimed that Iran’s tallest bridge was destroyed.

The war, now more than a month old, began with US-Israeli strikes on Iran and has since spread across the Middle East, disrupting the global economy and affecting millions of people. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi responded online, saying: “Striking civilian structures, including unfinished bridges, will not compel Iranians to surrender.”

Both sides have increasingly targeted economic and industrial sites, raising fears of wider disruption to global energy supplies. The Strait of Hormuz, through which one-fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas passes, has been effectively closed by Iran. Gulf nations are pushing for a force to protect shipping there, but a UN vote scheduled for Friday was delayed.

Trump has threatened to bomb Iran “back to the Stone Ages” and warned that US attacks would intensify if Tehran does not reach a negotiated settlement. Iran has vowed “crushing” attacks against the US and Israel in response.
