RIYADH — Saudi Arabia ranked first among G20 countries in the 2025 Safety Index, according to data from the UN Sustainable Development Goals indicators database released by the Kingdom’s General Authority for Statistics on Monday.

The findings showed that 97.7 percent of the population feels safe walking alone at night in their neighborhoods, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The data also revealed that 94.9 percent of women, 97 percent of Saudi citizens, and 97.2 percent of people aged 60–64 feel safe walking alone at night in residential areas.

The results highlight the efforts of government agencies to maintain high levels of safety across the Kingdom, aligning with initiatives to strengthen security, stability, and quality of life across economic, food, environmental, health, social, political, intellectual, technological, and cybersecurity sectors in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

The General Authority for Statistics conducts its work using a unified methodology based on the Statistical Business Process Manual, which aligns with international statistical standards.

In a separate report, the authority said that 75.3 percent of Saudi Arabia’s population attended cultural events or activities in 2025, reflecting growing public participation in cultural activities across the Kingdom.

The data was released under the Raqam Saudi initiative, which highlights national achievements, promotes national pride and citizenship values, and showcases the role of official statistics in tracking progress toward the goals of Vision 2030 and sustainable development.
