How a Center Supports Environmental Compliance for Sustainable Growth
RIYADH — The National Center for Environmental Compliance conducted more than 19,000 laboratory analyses last year as part of its push to monitor pollution and support sustainable growth.
The center collected 1,447 water and soil samples to measure pollutant levels, identify contamination types, and assess environmental impacts. According to Sahar Shar, director general of environmental laboratories management, the work enabled rapid detection of pollution and illegal discharge violations, aiding regulatory decisions.
The center also audited 44 licensed laboratories. Results showed 40% were fully compliant with scientific standards, 30% partially compliant, and 30% non‑compliant. The findings also support investigations into serious environmental harm.
