Entertainment Boom in Saudi Arabia Drives 62% Rise in Center Registrations

Saudi Arabia’s active commercial registrations for entertainment centers climbed to 8,462 by the end of the first half of 2026, up from 5,216 in 2024, a rise of nearly 62 percent in two years, according to Ministry of Commerce data obtained by Al-Eqtisadiah.

The count stood at 7,640 in 2025 before reaching its current level. Riyadh leads with 3,580 registrations, followed by Makkah province with 2,295 and the Eastern Province with 933. The growth is most visible in venues aimed at children, which are spreading across shopping malls and neighborhoods. Demand looks strong: 75.3 percent of the population visited venues hosting cultural events or activities in 2025, according to the General Authority for Statistics.

Mini entertainment centers and indoor amusement parks have become regular weekend stops for families. Some operate more than 13 hours a day, opening mid-morning and running past midnight, with even later closing on weekends, and Friday tends to be the busiest day. Prices vary widely. Game cards at one center start at 110 riyals per person, while another charges from 149 riyals for electronic games and 169 riyals for physical ones. Points-based packages are common, including bundles that add food and drinks, with family packages reaching 499 riyals and a back-to-school offer priced at 399 riyals for 1,000 points.

Operators are also widening what they offer. Some now provide childcare for younger children, hourly and open-time tickets, and monthly memberships that encourage repeat visits, while cafes and free or low-cost entry for accompanying adults help draw parents. Malls are benefiting too, as trips increasingly combine shopping, dining and entertainment under one roof.

Centers promote themselves mainly through social media, seasonal offers and printed material handed out inside malls. Many also stress safety, using identification wristbands and receipts linked to each child’s details, and releasing children only to a verified parent or guardian, with younger children required to be accompanied by an adult.

Taken together, the figures suggest that children’s entertainment centers have become one of the main ways growing demand for leisure is turning into commercial activity, as the sector shifts from simple game rooms toward integrated family destinations.
