Qalibaf Urges Tehran to Prepare for Pressure From US Sanctions
Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said Iran must prepare a strategy to overcome what he called “unjust sanctions,” following US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s announcement of what he described as the toughest sanctions ever imposed on Iran, according to a message shared on Qalibaf’s Telegram channel.
Bessent said Thursday that the US would impose “the toughest sanctions in history” on Iran, framing the economic measures as an approach that could reduce the need for further major military operations against Tehran.
The announcement came a day after President Donald Trump threatened what he called “Economic Warfare” against Iran, warning of consequences for any country found providing Tehran with “any type of lifeline.”
