Princess Sarah Hosts Turkish Ambassador for Official Diplomatic Talks
RIYADH — Princess Sarah bint Bandar, executive director of the International Dates Council, met with Turkish Ambassador Emrullah Isler at the Turkish Embassy in Riyadh on Sunday to discuss Turkiye’s potential membership in the council.
The meeting reviewed the council’s objectives and role in supporting the global dates sector, along with the procedures for joining. Ambassador Isler expressed interest in the council’s programs and membership process, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Turkiye is among the world’s leading importers of dates, importing 67,093 tonnes worth $133.7 million in 2025. The International Dates Council serves as a global reference body for developing and regulating the dates sector, bringing together producing, exporting, and importing countries.
The council aims to unify international standards, build a trusted knowledge and data platform, enhance the economic value of dates, strengthen their presence in global markets, and support the sector’s long-term sustainability.
