Fans React as Elyanna Drops Her Highly Anticipated World Cup Track
Elyanna, the Palestinian-Chilean singer reshaping global perceptions of Arabic music, has achieved another major career milestone by securing a spot on an official FIFA World Cup soundtrack, performing alongside Canadian artist Jessie Reyez.
The 24-year-old features on “Illuminate,” one of the official songs for the 2026 World Cup, and is scheduled to perform at the opening ceremony in Toronto on June 12. Her inclusion marks a significant moment for Arab representation on the world’s biggest sporting stage.
A Song Built on Cultural Fusion
“Illuminate” blends alternative R&B, Arabic melodies, and global pop influences, exploring themes of identity, unity, and resilience. Produced by Grammy-winning producer Cirkut, the track pairs Reyez’s soulful vocals with Elyanna’s signature Arabic sound infused with Latin influences—a combination that reflects her own multicultural background.
FIFA has positioned the song as a celebration of music’s power to unite cultures through sport, with Elyanna representing the growing presence of Arab artists at global cultural moments typically dominated by Western performers.
“Rooting for all the MENA region. Making us proud! See you at the opening ceremony,” Elyanna posted on social media this week, signaling her excitement about performing for a global audience.
Breaking Barriers on the Global Stage
Elyanna’s World Cup appearance represents the culmination of a meteoric rise that began in 2023 when she became the first artist to perform a full set entirely in Arabic at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. That breakthrough moment launched her international career into the spotlight and proved that Arabic-language music could command attention on global platforms.
Since then, she became the first Arabic-language performer on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” collaborated with Coldplay on the track “We Pray,” and joined the British band for a worldwide tour last year. Each achievement has positioned her as a trailblazer for Arabic music on international stages previously reserved for English-language artists.
A Broader Musical Celebration
Elyanna’s “Illuminate” is part of FIFA’s expansive musical lineup for the 2026 World Cup, held across the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Other official tracks already released include “Dai Dai” by Shakira and Burna Boy—marking Shakira’s return to World Cup music thirteen years after her iconic “Waka Waka” in 2010.
Additional official songs include “Lighter” by Jelly Roll and Carin Leon, “Por Ella” by Belinda and Los Angeles Azules, and “Echo” by Daddy Yankee and Shenseea. The diverse lineup reflects FIFA’s strategy of creating multiple entry points for audiences across different musical genres and regions.
A Historic Opening Ceremony
The World Cup 2026 will feature three opening ceremonies across the three host nations, with celebrations beginning in Mexico City on June 11, followed by Toronto and Los Angeles on June 12. Elyanna’s performance in Toronto will mark a historic moment for Arabic music at the World Cup.
Her presence on this global stage represents more than personal achievement—it signals a shifting landscape in international entertainment where Arabic-language artistry is increasingly recognized as a powerful cultural force deserving of prominent platforms. For the MENA region, Elyanna’s World Cup moment represents recognition and pride on one of the world’s largest stages.
