Iran resumed its nightly drone campaign against Saudi Arabia early Monday, launching 48 hostile drones in just two hours. The Defense Ministry said all drones targeting the Eastern Province were intercepted and destroyed.

Monday Morning Barrage

Ministry spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Maliki announced the attacks beginning at 2:22 a.m. local time. The 48 drones were launched in waves targeting the Eastern Province.

All drones were intercepted and destroyed according to Saudi air defenses. The successful interception maintained the Kingdom’s air defense track record.

Cumulative Toll Rising

The new barrage raised the number of drones intercepted in the Kingdom to over 230. The Defense Ministry also reported more than 30 missiles shot down across the campaign.

The escalating numbers reflect sustained Iranian operations. The frequency and scale of attacks continue intensifying.

Iranian Blame Deflection

Hours before the attacks, Iran’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Alireza Enayati, sought to deflect blame. He shared a notice attributed to Iran’s military command claiming “the enemy” was deploying drones disguised as Iranian-made Shahed drones.

The claim suggested deception about drone origins. Iran attempted to distance itself from the operations through the alleged false flag narrative.

Regional Toll Growing

Neighboring Gulf states reported higher casualties. Bahrain intercepted 125 missiles and 203 drones, with attacks killing two people there and 24 others across the region.

The UAE reported engaging 294 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,600 drones, recording six fatalities. The regional impact extends beyond Saudi Arabia.

Attack Pattern Established

Iranian strikes have followed a pattern of nightly attacks interspersed with daytime lulls. The consistent timing creates operational predictability.

The nightly pattern reflects Iranian strategy of sustained pressure. The rhythm affects civilian and military operations across the region.

Escalation Context

The resumed barrage represents further escalation in the conflict. The larger numbers indicate Iranian commitment to sustained operations.

The attack scale demonstrates Iran’s intention to maintain pressure. The cumulative toll on regional infrastructure and populations continues mounting.

Air Defense Success

Despite the large numbers, regional air defenses report successful interception rates. The Kingdom’s air defense systems continue performing their protective role.

The effectiveness of defensive systems prevents direct strikes on major targets. However, debris and operational disruptions create ongoing challenges.
