UAE Could See More Summer Rains With Mercury to go Beyond 50C – Weather Forecaster

Residents may anticipate a few months of extreme heat as the UAE’s summer continues, with temperatures sometimes exceeding 50°C in some parts, along with humidity and occasional rain, especially in the eastern and mountainous areas of the country, said the National Center of Meteorology (NCM).

Many residents are already changing their schedules to avoid the harshest afternoon temperatures, but forecasts warn that the warmest weeks of the UAE this summer are yet to come. Eisa Al Sereidi, acting head of the General Meteorology Section at the NCM, said the country has already entered the summer season and is witnessing the usual meteorological conditions that come with it.

We also have convective clouds which forms locally in the UAE in July and August. But generally the rain falls over the Eastern parts and sometimes to internal places too.” He added that cloud formation and isolated rains are triggered by high temperatures, moisture in the air and the steep terrain.

The formation of convective clouds in the mountainous areas is generally the reason of rainfall in the summer season. “The localised rain is caused by high temperature and moisture in the atmosphere and the topography of the region.”

Al Asray also said that while the Indian monsoon could have some impact, it is not the primary driver of summer rainfall in the UAE.
