US-Iran Agreement Receives Support from Saudi and Austrian Foreign Ministers
VIENNA — Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan met with his Austrian counterpart Beate Meinl-Reisinger in Vienna on Wednesday to discuss enhancing bilateral ties and welcomed the US-Iran memorandum of understanding announced this week.
The ministers expressed hope the agreement would pave the way for a permanent ceasefire, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and allow for further negotiations on Tehran’s nuclear program. They described the document as a crucial step in support of regional stability and diplomatic solutions, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The two officials also discussed cooperation in energy and logistics, and ways to encourage mutual investments, particularly in alternative and renewable energy projects.
Prince Faisal, whose European tour included a stop in Portugal on Tuesday, also met separately with Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker and National Council President Walter Rosenkranz. Discussions with Stocker covered developing issues in Europe, the Middle East, and other regions, while the meeting with Rosenkranz focused on Saudi-Austrian cooperation and regional security efforts.
