US Military Confirms Strikes on Daesh Positions in Syria
  • PublishedFebruary 5, 2026

The United States military has confirmed a series of targeted operations against Daesh (ISIS) forces in Syria. According to a statement from US Central Command, American forces carried out five strikes between January 27 and February 2, focusing on multiple terrorist targets.

The operations, which utilized precision munitions, successfully hit a significant weapons storage facility among other Daesh positions. The strikes underscore the ongoing, though often less publicized, counterterrorism mission that US forces continue to conduct in the region.

While large-scale combat operations against the so-called Islamic State concluded years ago, the group maintains a persistent, low-level presence in remote parts of Syria. These recent strikes demonstrate the US commitment to preventing the militant organization from regrouping and rebuilding its capacity to launch attacks.

The military’s use of “precision munitions” highlights the continued focus on minimizing collateral damage while degrading enemy logistics and armaments. The destruction of a weapons storage facility containing an estimated 50 such munitions represents a direct blow to Daesh’s ability to equip its fighters and plan operations.

This military action serves as a clear reminder that, despite shifting global attention, the mission to ensure the enduring defeat of Daesh remains active. The US, alongside local partner forces, continues to conduct necessary operations to maintain pressure on the network and protect regional stability.
