Hezbollah Assaults Israel with a String of Retaliation Strikes
Following reports from state media that Israel had increased its own strikes the previous evening, the militant Lebanese group Hezbollah said it launched a series of attacks on Israeli military installations on Saturday.
Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran, has been engaging in practically daily gunfire with the Israeli army in support of its Palestinian friend since the beginning of the conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip on October 7.
“An air assault using explosive drones against… the Yiftah barracks, targeting the positions of enemy officers and soldiers,” the Lebanese Islamist group stated early on Saturday.
It claimed that the incident was a reprisal for an earlier-in-the day drone strike on a motorcycle in Majdal Selm.
Two people were injured in the drone strike, according to the Islamic Health Committee, which is associated with Hezbollah.
“Two Hezbollah terrorists operating in the region of Majdal Selm were struck by an aircraft,” the Israeli military stated in a statement.
The Lebanese Shiite movement declared that it had “shot down a Hermes 900 drone that was attacking our people and villages” later on Saturday.
