Saudi Arabia Speaks Out Against RSF Hospital Attack in Sudan
RIYADH — Saudi Arabia has condemned an attack by the Rapid Support Forces on a hospital in Sudan’s White Nile State that left multiple people dead and injured, including medical staff.
In a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency on Saturday, the Kingdom’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the targeting of the facility in the city of Al-Jabalain as a “reprehensible act” that cannot be justified under any circumstances. The ministry said the attack constituted a “flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law.”
Saudi Arabia called for an immediate halt to such violations and urged all parties to comply with the Jeddah Declaration, signed on May 11, 2023, which commits to the protection of civilians in Sudan. The Kingdom also reaffirmed its support for Sudan’s unity and its legitimate institutions, stating that this remains essential to achieving security, stability, and the aspirations of the Sudanese people.
