Saudi Arabia has moved swiftly to dismiss online rumors of a diplomatic rift with the United Arab Emirates, strongly reaffirming the profound and familial nature of the relationship between the two Gulf allies. The clarification came directly from Saudi Media Minister Salman Al-Dossary, who addressed speculation that the Kingdom had denied entry to a top Emirati official.
In a clear statement on social media, Minister Al-Dossary refuted claims that Saudi Arabia refused to receive the UAE’s National Security Adviser, Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed. “His Highness comes to the Kingdom whenever he wants without permission; it is his home and its leadership is his family,” the minister wrote, emphasizing the exceptional closeness and open channels between the two nations.
Acknowledging Differences, Emphasizing Partnership
The public reassurance follows recent comments from Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, who acknowledged a “difference of view” between Riyadh and Abu Dhabi regarding the conflict in Yemen. Despite this, he underscored that the bilateral relationship remains “critically important” for regional stability.
“The Kingdom is always keen on having a strong, positive relationship with the UAE as an important partner within the GCC,” Prince Faisal stated. He framed the UAE’s recent military withdrawal from Yemen not as a point of contention, but as a potential “building block” for the relationship to continue strengthening.

The backdrop to these statements involves complex shifts in Yemen. Last month, Yemen’s internationally recognized government requested the withdrawal of UAE forces following territorial gains by the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC). Subsequently, the Saudi-led coalition conducted airstrikes against weapons shipments destined for the STC, and the UAE confirmed the completion of its military withdrawal.
