How International Companies Are Expanding Cooperation in Riyadh

The World Defense Show, now in full swing under the patronage of Saudi Arabia’s leadership, has transformed Riyadh into a vibrant crossroads for the global defense industry. Running until February 12, the gathering has drawn manufacturers, technology pioneers, and government delegations from across the world—all united by a shared recognition of the Kingdom’s expanding role in the sector.

For many international exhibitors, this is not merely a display floor. It is a strategic gateway.

A Third Visit, A Clear Signal

Passtech Machine Tools, a company specializing in advanced CNC machinery from South Korea, is participating for the third time. Sales Manager Syed Zahid did not hesitate when assessing the show’s value: “We see it as very, very useful.” His words reflect a broader sentiment among returning participants—that Riyadh is no longer an emerging market but an established partner in global defense supply chains.

From China, With Ambition

At the Chinese Jihua Group’s booth, Senior Product Manager Peter Wang demonstrated a “true-color navigation device” and a wearable system designed to enhance mobility and operational efficiency. But the technology, while impressive, was only part of the story. What Wang emphasized most was the diversity of visitors passing through. “I meet different countries’ customers here,” he said. “I’m very happy and I want to get some opportunities for cooperation.”

His optimism captures the show’s unique value: it brings the world to Riyadh, and Riyadh to the world.

Turkiye’s First Step

For first-time exhibitor Masttech from Turkiye, the stakes are clear. Deputy General Manager Sitki Tuzun acknowledged that while his company does not yet have Saudi clients, this week marks the beginning of that journey. “We are here for connection and new business cooperation,” he stated. The company’s electromechanical, mechanical, and pneumatic mast systems are now on display for a regional audience that increasingly demands advanced, integrated solutions.

More Than a Showcase

The World Defense Show has evolved beyond static exhibitions. It functions as a dynamic networking arena where manufacturers, suppliers, and defense stakeholders move seamlessly between meetings, demonstrations, and dialogues. Contracts are discussed, relationships are deepened, and technology transfer pathways are drawn.

This momentum aligns with Saudi Arabia’s ambitious efforts to localize its defense industry and invest in next-generation capabilities. As the Kingdom accelerates its domestic production goals, platforms like WDS become essential—not only for acquiring technology, but for building the collaborative frameworks that sustain long-term industrial growth.

A Rising Node in the Global Network

What is taking shape in Riyadh this week is larger than any single deal or announcement. It is the emergence of a central node in the global defense ecosystem—one that connects East and West, established powers and rising innovators, and most importantly, vision with execution.

The World Defense Show has cemented its place not merely as an event on the calendar, but as a catalyst for cooperation. And as international companies continue to expand their presence here, Riyadh’s trajectory as a hub of strategic partnership shows no sign of slowing.
