Visitors Welcome as Diriyah Ramadan Market Opens on Thursday
The holy month of Ramadan brings with it a cherished tradition of evening gatherings, shared meals, and community connection. This year in Riyadh, that tradition finds a spectacular setting at the JAX Ramadan Market, opening Thursday and running until March 7 in the city’s vibrant JAX District.
Organized by the Diriyah Biennale Foundation, the market transforms the district into an open, living neighborhood dedicated to cultural engagement. Local cuisines, cultural programming, and creative activities combine to offer visitors an authentic experience infused with the spirit of Ramadan.
A Feast for the Senses
The main market passage will feature vendor kiosks and food and beverage experiences, alongside dedicated spaces for photography and relaxation. The culinary offerings span traditional and contemporary Ramadan favorites: jareesh, saleeg, luqaimat, mutabbaq, and samboosa sit alongside beverages, fresh juices, sweets, and dates. Whether you’re breaking your fast or gathering late into the night, the market promises flavors to savor.
Beyond Food
For 10 days, the market hosts an interactive cultural program welcoming visitors of all ages. Storytelling sessions bring traditional tales to life. Traditional games offer connection across generations. Henna artistry provides a hands-on creative experience.
Retail kiosks feature a curated selection including ready-to-wear fashion, accessories, beauty products, and gifts—opportunities to find something special while supporting local makers and merchants.
Youth Culture Meets Contemporary Art
The JAX Ramadan Market activates the district’s public spaces in dynamic ways. A skate park will host competitions, performances, and group lessons, bringing energy and movement to the evenings. Design workshops and interactive sessions blend youth culture with contemporary art, creating spaces where creativity flows freely.
Art at the Heart
Visitors also have the opportunity to experience the Diriyah Contemporary Art Biennale 2026, titled “In Interludes and Transitions,” which runs concurrently. The exhibition, along with surrounding galleries, open studios, and exhibition spaces featuring some of Saudi Arabia’s most prominent artists, remains open until 1 a.m.—perfect for late-night cultural exploration.
An Invitation
The JAX Ramadan Market is more than a shopping destination. It is an invitation to gather, to taste, to create, and to connect. In the warm evenings of Ramadan, families and friends will walk through the market passage, sample luqaimat, watch skaters perform, and explore contemporary art—all within a district that has become one of Riyadh’s most dynamic cultural hubs.
The market opens daily from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. The biennale welcomes visitors until 1 a.m.
For those in Riyadh during Ramadan, JAX District offers a way to experience the holy month’s spirit through community, creativity, and celebration. The market awaits. The nights are long. The welcome is warm.
