Human rights lawyer and activist Amal Clooney made a fashionable statement at the Cartier Women’s Initiative event in Milan, turning heads in an elegant ensemble from Lebanese designer Elie Saab.

The Look

Clooney chose a sleek pencil skirt and black top from Elie Saab’s Ready-to-Wear Fall-Winter 26/27 collection. The crocodile skin-textured skirt was the standout piece, anchoring the chic, sophisticated ensemble. She completed the refined look with subtle jewelry by Cartier.

The Event

The Cartier Women’s Initiative is an annual program dedicated to empowering women entrepreneurs and driving positive change. Founded in 2006, it supports women-run and women-owned businesses globally across all sectors.

Clooney’s Advocacy

Clooney has a strong partnership with Cartier. In 2023, she was named the inaugural contributor to Cartier Voices, a community of leaders championing cultural, philanthropic, environmental, and social initiatives.

At the 2023 awards ceremony, Clooney delivered a powerful speech on women’s economic empowerment, highlighting that women’s economic equality could add $12 trillion to the global economy. Yet she noted that philanthropic grants supporting women’s empowerment remain in single digits, while women’s rights globally continue to face setbacks.

Designer’s Inspiration

Saab recently showcased his latest collection at Paris Fashion Week in March. The Fall/Winter 2026-2027 collection draws inspiration from 1990s New York, blending downtown power tailoring with uptown florals. According to the fashion house, the “Elie Saab woman” embodies both intellectual sophistication and seductive charm.

Clooney’s carefully chosen outfit reflects the designer’s vision of modern elegance while supporting her broader commitment to women’s empowerment.
