During the first six days of Ramadan, the flow of worshippers to the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah has been matched by an equally significant flow of support services designed to guide and assist them.

The Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice, operating under the Presidency of Religious Affairs, has distributed over 56,000 guidance and outreach materials to visitors at both mosques. These publications cover a range of religious topics, helping pilgrims understand and perform their rituals correctly.

On-Site Guidance

Beyond printed materials, the administration has provided guidance and counseling services to more than 120,000 worshippers and visitors at the Prophet’s Mosque alone. Religious questions are addressed on site. Visitors receive personal attention. The combination of written resources and human interaction ensures that pilgrims can access information in whatever form suits them best.

Broader Outreach

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance has launched a series of outreach programs in mosques and prayer halls within the central area surrounding the Grand Mosque in Makkah. This initiative forms the second phase of an awareness plan for this year’s Umrah season, timed to coincide with the increased influx of pilgrims during Ramadan.

The plan includes lectures, daily instructional sessions, and post-prayer sermons delivered by a designated group of official preachers. Interpreters in multiple languages ensure that the awareness message reaches pilgrims of all nationalities—a crucial service in a place where visitors come from every corner of the Muslim world.

Why It Matters

For pilgrims performing Umrah during Ramadan, the experience is both spiritually profound and potentially overwhelming. Many are visiting the holy sites for the first time. Rituals that are second nature to frequent pilgrims can seem complex to newcomers. Language barriers can compound uncertainty.

Guidance programs bridge these gaps. They provide information. They answer questions. They offer reassurance. When a pilgrim knows what to do and why, the spiritual experience deepens. Anxiety gives way to focus. Confusion yields to clarity.

A Sacred Duty

Saudi authorities view these services as an extension of the Kingdom’s role as Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. Serving pilgrims is not merely administrative; it is a sacred duty. The guidance programs reflect that understanding, translating hospitality into practical support.

As Ramadan continues and more pilgrims arrive, the numbers will grow: more materials distributed, more questions answered, more visitors guided. Behind each statistic is a person seeking to connect with their faith. The guidance programs help them do so.
